How much does a flood barrier cost in Tampa Bay?
Fabricated, installed systems start around $1,850. These are the typical installed ranges we see across Pinellas and Hillsborough. Every number is a ballpark, not a quote — the exact figure comes from measuring your openings.
| What you're protecting | Typical installed range |
|---|---|
| A single standard door | From $1,850 |
| A single-car garage | $2,450 to $3,250 |
| Front door plus one garage | $3,550 to $4,700 |
| Whole-home coverage (all ground-level openings) | $6,000 to $12,000 |
| Commercial storefront or loading dock | Quoted after assessment |
What moves the number up or down?
Three things, in order of impact. How many openings you protect, because each one needs its own posts and planks. How wide each opening is, since a double garage needs substantially more aluminum than a front door. And the protection height your FEMA flood zone calls for, because each plank adds roughly 7.5 inches of coverage — a Zone AE address near open water is specced taller than a Zone X address inland.
Is it worth it compared to one flood?
FEMA's widely-cited estimate puts the damage from a single inch of interior floodwater at up to $25,000. Sandbagging one 3-foot doorway takes around 100 bags by our own count and, on our estimate, $200 to $400 per storm, and those bags are single-use. A HydroDam system is a one-time cost that gets redeployed every season for years, backed by the 5-year warranty.
